We are in the dark ages of digital crime. Spammers and identity thieves can wreak havoc on our communities because there is no system in place to hold them back or hold them accountable. Organizations that we depend on for protection in the real world were not built for and cannot adapt quickly enough in this new environment. Just as 700 years ago, people had to put up with higher levels of crime because the system and technology weren’t yet invented to deter crime and pursue criminals, we must put up with what will surely be considered the dark ages of digital crime by societies in the future.
