With so many sources and forces demanding our attention, a grab is no longer strong enough. When you are walking down a quiet street, reaching out to grab someone will certainly get their attention. But if you are in a huge mob, nobody will notice when you try to grab them.
In order to get someone’s attention in the crowded digital marketplace, we need to do more than grab, we need to take attention hostage. There are millions of pages vying for the same limited eyeballs, and it will be those of us who get creative, aggressive, and elaborate that are able to take attention hostage.
