There are two dimensions to thinking: focus and scope. With creative thinking, many tend to focus as hard as they can on the problem with the hopes that the answer will become clearer. But scope is just as important. Having the breadth of perspective and experience to see a problem within a wide spectrum of reality provides a valuable asset to creative thinking. Focus is our natural tendency  because, well, if we want something why not go right at it as hard as we can. But scope is frequently forgotten and largely underrated. Seeing more requires both clarity and perspective.
